Space Moot Venues

The Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court Competition selects its venues through a partnership between the International Institute of Space Law (IISL) and regional organising bodies such as the European Centre for Space Law. The structure of the competition means that venues differ for regional rounds and for the World Final. The **World Final** is held each year in the same city as the International Astronautical Congress (IAC). This creates a rotating global venue, since the IAC moves annually between host nations. As a result, finalists present their arguments before judges of the International Court of Justice in a different international setting each year. Regional rounds are organised by their respective continental bodies. These organisations select university hosts or legal institutions that can provide suitable facilities, judging panels, and organisational support. Announcements are typically made months in advance, allowing teams to prepare for travel and scheduling. For the **2026 season**, two venues have already been confirmed. The European Regional Rounds will be held from 8–10 April 2026 at the Faculty of Law and Administration of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland. The **World Final** will take place later in the year in Antalya, Turkey, alongside the International Astronautical Congress. These rotating venues reinforce the global character of the Manfred Lachs Moot Court, giving students the opportunity to engage with space law in diverse academic and cultural environments.
