COSPAR 2026

The COSPAR 2026 Scientific Assembly will take place in Florence, Italy, from **1–9 August 2026**.

Hosted in the heart of Tuscany, this event represents the flagship biennial gathering of the Committee on Space Research, bringing together scientists, mission teams, engineers, space agencies and research institutions from around the world. Florence was selected as the 2026 host city as part of COSPAR’s rotating international model, in which each Scientific Assembly is held in a different global scientific hub. The event is expected to occupy major conference facilities in the city, bringing thousands of participants to engage in scientific sessions, interdisciplinary workshops and mission-focused meetings. As with previous assemblies, the programme will span the full range of space research, including planetary science, astrophysics, heliophysics, climate and Earth observation, astrobiology and space weather. The Florence Assembly follows COSPAR 2024 and precedes regional COSPAR Symposia such as the 2025 meeting in Nicosia, Cyprus. While COSPAR hosts multiple events under its banner, the Scientific Assembly is the organisation’s premier gathering, held every two years. It serves as a platform for presenting new research, coordinating international missions, debating scientific standards and fostering collaboration across agencies and disciplines. As the cultural centre of Tuscany, Florence provides a distinctive setting for COSPAR 2026. Participants will meet in one of Europe’s great historical cities while engaging in cutting-edge scientific exchange. Further details on venues, registration and programme themes will be announced through COSPAR and local host channels as the event approaches.
